Richard McLeod (27) is a founder and Director of Cook Brothers Bars.
The company was infamously started in 2004, when at just 21 Richard and three Queenstown friends purchased one of the country's largest pubs, The Captain Cook Tavern in Dunedin.

They have since gone on to Launch Cook Brothers Construction, which has been on the Deloitte Fast 50 for the last two years running, start the Velvet Burger chain of gourmet burger bars, and added bars in Queenstown and Auckland.

Cook Brothers Bars now employs around 200 people, and expects to sell over 250,000 litres of beer in the next twelve months!

The upcoming Budget announcement is going to be a pivotal budget for young professionals, which is why we have teamed up WHK and NZ Author and business commentator Martin Hawes to give QYP members an insight into how this Budget will affect you and how you can build your long term financial security in light of these changes.

Martin Hawes - Martin is an independent business and financial consultant, advising clients and speaking at seminars throughout Australasia on all aspects of business and finance. He has a reputation for bringing the often seemingly complex aspects of finance, investment, taxation and trusts to a simple and understandable reality. Hawes currently writes as a columnist for the New Zealand Herald, in addition to a number of other publications. He is also a best selling author, having written over 15 books on topics such as investment, mortgages and tax. Martin Hawes lives in Queenstown. In his spare time he rock climbs, skis and climbs mountains.
